All About Lac Desmarais, QC

Lake Locations: Canada - Quebec, Canada -

St. Francis of Assisi, in the Roman Catholic pantheon of saints, was the patron saint of animals and the environment. It is not surprising then that Lac Desmarais, or Lake Desmarais, was once the private retreat of a group of Franciscan monks. They fished and meditated in this area of pristine wilderness and untouched beauty. What might be ironic is that, though the lake and its environment have preserved much of its wildness, its new use is hardly a reflection of the humility and simplicity of the pious monks: Lac Desmarais is now a private subdivision of extravagant splendor.

Set in the breathtaking Laurentian Mountains of Canada’s French-speaking Quebec, Lac Desmarais is surrounded by 1,000 acres of nature. The Lac Desmarais design and construction team has been meticulous in its planning of the subdivision, disturbing nature’s rhythms and patterns as little as possible, a promise that would have made the monks proud. An important part of the subdivision’s theme and emphasis throughout is its unspoiled natural habitat.

Large mountain and lakefront lots provide exceptional views of the water and towering mountains. Each lot has been developed in such a way that the animal, plants and forest that are part of the land are left largely untouched. These “conservation zones” also provide a great measure of privacy for each estate. Natural materials are utilized in construction and the architectural style of the homes and estates emphasizes design that blends in well with the natural environment. Hydro and telephone lines are hidden underground and special “dark sky” light installations increase the visibility of the Quebec night skies.

The Lac Desmarais subdivision has remarkably fine amenities: Miles of walking paths along the lake will provide hours of silent leisure and reflection. Six top-class golf courses will satisfy any seasoned golfer. Canoeing and trout fishing are some of the activities available on-water. Residents and guests also have access to their own community center. Additionally, there are tennis and basketball courts for those natural athletes and a nine-mile hiking, biking and cross-country ski trail. There is even a private rowing lake with a boathouse that canoeists will love.

The Mont Tremblant area, where Lac Desmarais is situated, is in Quebec’s Laurentides region and consists of a famous ski resort, an old and charming village, a vibrant downtown, the Laurentians’ highest mountain (Mont Tremblant) and the Mont Tremblant National Park. The park offers hiking, fishing, camping, canoeing, backpacking and more.

But there won’t be any reason to ever leave your luxurious private estate on Lac Desmarais, will there? The Lac Desmarais community is truly one of a kind.
