For picturesque views of scenic mountain ranges, Cossayuna Lake is your top destination. Located in Washington County, New York, Cossayuna Lake is located between the Adirondack Park Preserve and the Green Mountain National Forest in the Capital-Saratoga tourism region.
Cossayuna Lake is a quiet residential lake within a few minutes drive of any activity you wish to indulge. Saratoga Battlefield, site of the first American victory during the Revolutionary War, is 18 miles away for avid history buffs as well as nearby Ticonderoga and Fort Henry. Saratoga Springs, a short 30 mile drive away, offers culture with performing arts venues, horse racing for gaming enthusiasts, and quaint shops for the avid shopper. For the young at heart, an amusement and water park are nearby in Lake George.
Washington County and the Lake Cossayuna area offer year round outdoor activities to residents and visitors alike. Horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and hunting are available in the local area. During the winter, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing will keep you active. Recently, Washington County and neighboring Warren County were rated the number two best golfing area by the popular "Golfing Digest" magazine.
Fishing on Cossayuna Lake is available year round. A public boat launch with a hard surface ramp that accommodates up to 30 cars and trailers, operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, is located off East Shore Road. Tiger muskie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, brown bullhead trout, sunfish, blue gills and pumpkinseeds all are plentiful and waiting for the bait. Once the Cossayuna Lake freezes, ice fishing becomes a new challenge for anglers.
When you need a day to rest from all the activities, retreat to the water of Cossayuna Lake. Three miles long and approximately one mile wide at its widest point, Cossayuna Lake covers about 650 acres which is perfect for boating, kayaking, water skiing, water tubing, parasailing, swimming or just lazily lying on the beach.
With numerous lakeside vacation rentals available, deciding where to stay will be the easy part. Deciding how long to stay at Cossayuna Lake is the hard part- there is so much to do you will not want to miss anything.
