DeQueen Lake, proud owner of 32 miles of picturesque shoreline, is nestled in Arkansas's Ouachita Mountains Region. Located in Sevier County on the Rolling Fork River, DeQueen Lake is a recreational paradise that offers camping, swimming, fishing, picnicking, hiking and so much more. Pine woods surrounding the lake and crystal-clear waters never fail to leave lake visitors relaxed and ready for a vacation filled with fun.

DeQueen Lake was filled and formed after completion of a dam on Rolling Fork River. The project was approved in 1958 by the Flood Control Act and was constructed to provide flood control, water supply, fish and wildlife enhancement, water quality and recreation.

There is so much to do at DeQueen Lake. Lake visitors can find great camping at campgrounds managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where facilities include RV and tent camping with electric hook ups as well as restrooms, water, boat ramps, showers and a dump station. In addition to campgrounds, the U.S. Army Corps manages other recreation areas and a scenic overlook. Lake visitors may also enjoy swimming beaches, as well as many picnic areas and a group shelter in the Corps recreation areas. Lake visitors on the lookout for boating and water skiing will find a number of boat ramps located around DeQueen Lake.

Anglers and hunters will enjoy this peaceful Arkansas reservoir. Fishing is excellent on DeQueen Lake, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission stocks the lake with hybrid striped bass. Other game fish include largemouth bass, spotted bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie, white crappie, channel catfish, flathead catfish and sunfish. Fishing boats can be launched at several boat ramps around the lake. Hunters will find project lands rich in large and small game as well as waterfowl. Game species include turkey, gray squirrel, fox squirrel, rabbit, deer and quail. Hunting is permitted on all project lands except for areas developed for recreation and the land near the dam.

Two nearby places of interest to visitors to DeQueen Lake are Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge and Ouachita National Forest. Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge is located 10 miles southeast of DeQueen, Arkansas. The Refuge is a wildlife retreat and is open to the public for fishing, photography hunting, wildlife observation, primitive camping and environmental education and interpretation. The Refuge also offers ATV trails for seasonal use. Ouachita National Forest provides beautiful mountain views and offers sightseeing, hunting, fishing and camping. Ouachita National Forest is within 30 miles of Lake DeQueen. Both Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge and Ouachita National Forest offer DeQueen Lake visitors additional relaxing settings and are worth visiting.

Visitors to DeQueen Lake will be charmed by the serene beauty surrounding the lake. Many lake activities will keep visitors coming back time and time again -- whether it's big game hunting or a leisurely hike through the woods, there is always something to do at DeQueen Lake.
