The unspoiled beauty of Lake Georgia Pacific, located 10 miles from Crossett, Arkansas is a naturalist retreat. Visitors of Lake Georgia Pacific can enjoy the rolling hills and the rugged forest that surrounds the lake. Created in 1963, Lake Georgia Pacific was named after a well known lumber mill that went by the same name, and it was designed to provide water for three paper mills in Crossett.

Lake Georgia Pacific is known for its world-class bass fishing. Anglers can also cast in their line for large catfish, while other lake guests may enjoy a few picnic sites and campgrounds located around the lake. Lake Georgia Pacific is a great place to get away and to unwind. The natural setting makes the lake an ideal place for wild life viewing.

Crossett, Arkansas, located near Lake Georgia Pacific began as a mill town and was named after Edward S. Crossett who was a leading entrepreneur in the lumber industry. With three business partners, Crossett started the Crossett Lumber Company which was later sold to the Georgia-Pacific Corporation in 1962. Visitors to Crossett may want to see the three room mill house that was built before 1910. It is located on part of 110 acres of Crossett City Park. In addition to the old mill house, Crossett City Park offers a pond, a walking trail and a zoo.

Real Estate near Lake Georgia Pacific and the Crossett area, primarily consist of wooded tracts that are rich in small and large game. These properties are ideal for hunters who may enjoy building their own dream home or even develop a hunt club.

While visiting Lake Georgia Pacific, nature lovers will also enjoy taking a short drive to a couple of National Wildlife Refuges. The first is the Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) which is just 8 miles southeast of Crossett. The Felsenthal NWR has 65,000 acres which features an abundance of water systems that include the Ouachita and Saline Rivers as well as the Felsenthal Pool. Visitors to the Felsenthal NWR may take pleasure in wildlife viewing and may spot endangered species such as the red-cockaded woodpecker, the American alligator and the bald eagle. Visitors may also enjoy camping, hunting, hiking and photography. A short drive north of Crossett is the Overflow National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) which was established in 1980. This Refuge provides habitat for mallard, wood dock and other waterfowl. Hunters will find small and large game at the Overflow NWR, which includes squirrel, rabbits, quail, deer and turkey. Wildlife viewers and photographers are welcome to visit the Overflow Refuge all year long.

Lake Georgia Pacific and its surrounding attractions are bound to leave nature lovers wanting to leave the cares of life behind to enjoy the beautiful wooded environment. While camping, visitors may spot deer lapping water from the edge of the lake or view a bald eagle swooping down to catch its prey. Anglers may just catch that trophy fish, while families reconnect while picnicking in the designated areas.
